Our Services

  • We are dedicated to providing personalized care tailored to your individual needs, ensuring you feel supported throughout the process. Your skin health is our priority at Royal Terrace Clinic.

At Royal Terrace Clinic, we offer comprehensive skin check and biopsy services to ensure your skin health is prioritized. Regular skin checks are vital for early detection of potential issues, including skin cancer and other dermatological conditions. Our experienced specialists conduct thorough examinations, assessing any areas of concern and identifying abnormalities.

If a suspicious lesion or skin area is detected during the skin check, we provide in-clinic biopsies. This procedure involves the removal of a small sample of skin tissue for laboratory analysis. Our state-of-the-art facilities ensure that biopsies are conducted safely and efficiently, with minimal discomfort.

Post-procedure, our team will guide you through the next steps, including care for the biopsy site and explanations of the results once available. We are dedicated to providing personalized care tailored to your individual needs

  • Skin cancer management involves a comprehensive approach tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Early detection and effective treatment improves outcomes.

    Types of Skin Cancer:

    1. Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC): The most common type, BCC typically appears as a small, shiny bump or a pink patch. It rarely metastasizes but can cause local damage if untreated.

    2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC): SCC may present as a firm, red nodule or a flat lesion with a scaly crust. Like BCC, SCC is usually localized, but some cases can spread to other parts of the body.

    3. Melanoma: The most aggressive form of skin cancer, melanoma can develop from existing moles or appear as a new dark spot. Early detection is critical for successful treatment.

  • Hand surgery encompasses a variety of surgical procedures aimed at treating conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and forearm. Whether due to trauma, congenital defects, or degenerative diseases, these surgeries can significantly improve function and reduce pain.

Our Team

  • MBChB, FRACS, PGDip Hand Surgery

I have been working in Dunedin as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon since 2013. I work at Southern DHB and in private practice at Mercy Hospital and the Queenstown Southern Cross Hospital.

Originally from Rotorua, I graduated from Otago Medical School in 1999 and completed my specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2009.  After a further four years of additional specialist training in the United Kingdom I was delighted to return to Dunedin. My work in the UK was varied and involved time at the prestigious Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, The Royal Free Hospital and The Wellington hospitals in London, and finally The Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. I completed a Postgraduate diploma of Hand Surgery (Manchester University) during my time away.

Since returning to Dunedin I have also become a clinical lecturer for the Otago Medical School and lecture on the Post Graduate Diploma of Surgical Anatomy. I have three gorgeous daughters and love living in Otago and sharing its beauty with my young family whenever possible.

  • Registered Nurse

I am a Registered Nurse specialised in Perioperative Nursing and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and I work as the Clinical Nurse Manager at Royal Terrace Clinic. I also work in the development of new clinics and medical facilities in the areas of quality and accreditation.

During my career I have worked in both Australia and New Zealand gaining additional experience in Dermatology, Pain Management, and Rehabilitation.

I have always loved Dunedin - the small city and beautiful surroundings allows me to spend lots of time with my young family, tending to my garden and animals, and enjoying all that this gem of a city has to offer.
